Artist and art teacher Natasha Rebrov:
“I studied teaching methods at a 90-year old school in Moscow, which taught me the history of art and styles, based on the teaching principles by Pestalozzi, Diesterweg, and Makarenko. According to them, education is a right, not a privilege, and also an essential part of the happiness of human beings. As an art teacher, your role is to show your students how to do something, then they will take it further by adding their own creative ideas and thoughts. You need to show your students that you believe in them and their creativity, and that you respect their artistic opinion. As an art teacher, I also need to collaborate with the parents of the kids I’m working with.”
